Savannah was born on Tuesday,  March 24 and weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and measured 20 inches long.
Nancy Carney and Sandy Vanpelt representing the guild extended the group's warm wishes as they presented this one of a kind quilt, which was made especially for the National Quilting Day baby.   The parents were delighted with the quilt and thanked guild members for their hard work.
A small group of women who enjoy quilting began the guild in 1986. Currently, there are over 50 members.   The Piecemakers have a very strong sense of community and use their love of quilting to not only promote the art, but also as a commitment to serve through projects such as this. They are among the generous community members who make and donate quilts to many newborns born at UHS Chenango Memorial and other patients and residents.
The tradition of the "Quilt baby" began years ago as a significant way to observe National Quilting Day by involving the community.
The Chenango Piecemakers meet on a monthly basis.   Anyone interested in joining the guild or in learning more about what they do is welcome.
